Lightening of the Second Advent Candle - Rhonda Cleveland and Robert Cleveland
Leader: Today, we light the second candle of Advent, the Candle of Peace.
As we gather in this sacred space, we remember that the peace God offers is not the absence of trouble; it is the presence of Christ in the midst of it.
His peace calms storms, quiets anxious hearts, and steadies weary souls.
People: Christ is our Peace, within us, among us, and over us.
Leader: The prophet Isaiah declared that the Messiah would be called the Prince of Peace. In a world filled with conflict, division, and unrest, we light this candle as a reminder that the peace that Jesus brings is deep, healing, and lasting. It is peace that reconciles us to God and teaches us to walk with one another in love.
People: We receive His peace. We welcome His peace. We choose His peace.
Leader: As this second candle shines beside the first, may its light guide our hearts. May we become carriers of Christ’s peace, in our homes, in our community, and in every place God sends us.
All: Come, Lord Jesus. Make us instruments of Your peace. Amen.

Psalm 72:1-7
1 Give the King your justice, O God,
and your righteousness to the King's Son;
2 That he may rule your people righteously
and the poor with justice;
3 That the mountains may bring prosperity to the people,
and the little hills bring righteousness.
4 He shall defend the needy among the people;
he shall rescue the poor and crush the oppressor.
5 He shall live as long as the sun and moon endure,
from one generation to another.
6 He shall come down like rain upon the mown field,
like showers that water the earth.
7 In his time shall the righteous flourish;
there shall be abundance of peace till the moon shall be no more.
