Rev. Twanda King is a native of Baltimore, Maryland. She is an Elder in the United Methodist Church. Pastor King, was appointed as the first female pastor of Union United Methodist Church in Upper Marlboro, Maryland in July 2022. Beyond her pastoral duties, Rev. King serves on the BWC Health and Wellness Board and the BWC Clergy Care Intensive. She is a member of Zeta Phi Beta, Incorporated, Mu Zi Zeta Chapter.
In addition, Rev. King has a love for self-care and finances. She is an ICF trained coach, and coach facilitator for the Mid-Atlantic United Methodist Foundation, coaching both individuals and local churches. Coach facilitator for Strengthening Black Church, coaching to help congregations thrive. A graduate of Morgan State University and Lancaster Theological Seminary, Rev. King holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting degree and Master of Divinity degree. Her educational pursuits continued through the completion of Clinical Pastoral Education at York County Hospital in Pennsylvania. A lifelong learner, Rev. King is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Messiah University.
Pastor King is the author of the book Breathe – A Pastor’s Journey to Wholeness. It is her desire to walk with individuals as they find time to “breathe.”
Outside the work of ministry, Rev. King finds joy in her husband Rev. Eric Wellington King, Sr., her daughter and three beautiful grandchildren. Believing she has been appointed for “such a time as this,” Rev. King has a love for the Lord and wholeheartedly believes and embraces Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
